The day had gone swimmingly so far, Reverie following Vivacious Esprit through the fields of lush grass, catching the gentle scent of flowers in bloom on the warm spring breeze. The pair rounded a hilltop and slowed to a stop, sides heaving with exhilaration over each other and their jaunt.

"Look," the mare said, dipping her head to pluck a new bud from between the grasses. "New growth."

The stallion gave a soft snort, nibbling forward at his own bud and plucking it from near her front hoof. The mare giggled lightly, lackidasically, as a smile swept across his face. Her name around the stables was Dreamy-- and she certainly was, he thought.

"Watch," he said through clenched teeth, concentrating on the bud in his jaws. Slowly a green glow enveloped the tiny flower, growing as the bud began to rapidly swell into a new, fresh bloom. Its petals slid beside each other as the flower opened as though facing the warm spring sun. With a grin he turned to face her, proud of what his magic had accomplished.

She giggled again, and he nearly dropped his flower in surprise. She had enveloped her own flower bud in a green glow, and it rapidly grew to rival the size of his own before his very eyes. He couldn't help but laugh as she gave a mirthful grin. She had foiled his own plans to present her with the bloom by conjuring her own!
